My name is Lucy Tibbs and you'll often find me behind the lens snapping photographs of just about everything. Whether it's a family photoshoot, professional headshot, maternity photoshoot, or even a wedding, you name it and I'll photograph it! Capturing the precious memories that people make with each other and providing them with photographs that they can hold really is a privilege. No two sessions are the same and that is what makes being a photographer so thrilling and gratifying!
So here's a little bit more about who I am and how I got to be the professional photographer I am today.
I recently graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University's School of Art after achieving a Distinction in MA Photography. Having completed my bachelor's degree in Media and Communications (Photography) at Birmingham City University, I decided to continue studying to give me the ability to continue learning about the field I love, to produce research-informed work and photographs that require high levels of technical skills.
Since entering higher education, I have learnt numerous new skills and developed the ones that I already possessed further. For instance, I have learned how to use professional standard software, such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Rush, and Illustrator for visual design, video, and photography purposes.
When I first arrived at university I had never picked up a DSLR camera. Now it's hard to pull me away from one. Studying allowed me to discover a real desire to create pieces of art that resonated with people and I also enjoyed experimenting with different genres of photography to improve my skills in all areas. I have gained experience in portraiture, product, travel, wedding, and event photography over the years.
I have previous experience within the music industry, shooting for both Indie Midlands and Counteract every week, both of which are Birmingham-based online publications. Whilst in Manchester, I also worked for print magazine The Rodeo, contributing to the magazine by photographing at music venues every week and in the professional studio. This voluntary work experience allowed me to become immersed within the local music scenes, creating the opportunity for me to develop my technical knowledge and my editing skills. I have also been hired by musicians to create social media and music artwork for them.
Now that you know far too much information about me, feel free to send me an email introducing yourself and feel free to ask any questions about the services I offer.
I can't wait to hear from you!
